Video Footage Social Media Sharing:
Some agencies suggest that the dashcam video not be shared on social media because it could adversely affect any subsequent proceedings.
Edited Dashcam Footage
Some reporting agencies ask for dashcam videos not to be edited in any way when submitting the video. This can be important for maintaining evidence however this can also require more time to review the offense. Others ask for it to be trimmed to 30 seconds before and after the event for easier viewing.
Agreeing to be a witness
Many sites require you to agree to be witness in event of court proceeding “I am willing to attend Court and give evidence in relation to this matter.”
Accepting video link vs requesting video file
Dashcam video files can be large. The video files are usually too large to be attached in an email. Most email servers limit the file size at 25mb. A single video clip might be several hundred MB depending on its length. You would need to have an upload form on your website or have them upload the video to the cloud and share the link.
Types of eligible of unsafe driving events
Often Reporting sites specify the types of offenses that should be reported. Most say it is only for reporting traffic offenses. “It is NOT for submitting footage of Road Traffic Collisions or public order offences, any reports of parking offences.” This should be clearly stated on your form to prevent unwanted reports.

Dashcam Video Penalties
This is at the discretion of each individual agency and offense. Some may use the the video and witness to file charges. Other may just issue warnings in the mail which could include a link to the video.
License Plate Numbers
Agencies usually require that the license plate is clearly visible in the video or that the plate was recorded by the witness. They will usually say that the plate number is required for reporting dashcam videos.
